JoVE Database Guide

The Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE) site provides scholarly video / visual coverage of core science education topics, encyclopedia / lab manual for research, and new visual / video research journal articles.

The Stanislaus State Library subscription covers biomedical issues, including JoVE Science Education - Clinical Skills (Nursing/Medical), JoVE Core Biology, and a dozen other JoVE education and research modules.

If you search from the main JoVE interface your will receive results from all modules (including ones not available under the library's subscription).  In the search results, look for green dots next to entries for videos available for Stan State students, faculty, and staff.

Citing / Emailing / Saving:

Citing an Item from JoVE:

See the Citing an Item from JoVE guide for examples of how to cite in APA or CSE style.

JoVE does not include a citation tool for their education / encyclopedia videos.

JoVE does provide citations for videos in their journal section, but these are not formatted according to APA or CSE style.

Saving:

You cannot save the video.  You can share a link, but that link will not work unless you are on-campus / using the campus VPN.

Email an item:

  • You can email a link using the "Share" function.
  • Note: The link does not include the Stan State Library "proxy" information, so it will not work off-campus.

Personal account:

You can create a free, personal account to save a video as a "favorite," and/or create a personal playlist.  These favorites / playlists will remain available in your personal account (i.e. when you return and login again).
